There’s lots to see.and visit. Here’s a brief list of the main attractions.

Palaces - Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Hampton Court Palace. All of these are open to visitors.

Museums and Galleries - Natural History Museum, Science Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, The Tate and Tate Modern, British Museum, Imperial War Museum.

Famous Buildings and Monuments etc - The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Whitehall and Downing Street, Clarence House, St James Palace, Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Marble Arch, Monument, Tower Bridge, London Eye.

Churches - Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, St Clement Dane, Temple Church, Saint Martin in the field.

There’s such a lot to see I can’t possibly list them all here. I’d recommend an Eyewitness Travel Guide as they’re very comprehensive and include attractions, opening times, photos and maps.

Try the website for The Original London Walks as they do loads of guided tours around the city, They’re very cheap and you can take Jack the Ripper, Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code, Charles Dickens, Museum and Ghost walks. They are very good indeed and you get to see the places lots of tourists don’t eve know about.

Travel by tube or bus, It’s cheaper than by taxi and very convenient. You can get travel cards from your nearest tube station.

The main shopping streets are Oxford and Regent Street. You can try New Bond Street for Designer labels. Camden for alternative clothing. There’s a big mall in Brent Cross also.

As for food, there are places to eat everywhere. China Town in Soho is good and Brick Lane for Indian Food in particular.

There are lots of public parks and green areas in London. I’d recommend lunch al fresco if it’s fine.
Have fun.

Feminists… what are the advanteges of being a man?

-don’t need to be good looking to have status -can actually get respect from more people -don’t get sexually assaulted/raped as often -don’t have people (mechanics, etc) trying to take advantage of you -can have sex without stigma attached -don’t have the pressures & stresses of motherhood (we can’t do anything right, sahm or working mom we’re still screwed) -easier time […]

-can have sex without stigma attached
-don’t have the pressures & stresses of motherhood (we can’t do anything right, sahm or working mom we’re still screwed)
-easier time finding a job (i’ve been turned down for being female)
-can disagree with someone’s point without being dubbed a b!tch
-can succeed without people whispering about how you got there on your looks or using sex
-your worth is based on your merits and accomplishments rather than your sex appeal
-medical & drug testing is accurate for men, tests don’t usually take into account women nearly as much
-men tend to be in positions to enforce & make the law
-life is just plain easier

i made one just as long, so i guess i’m only complaining as much as you are. ;)
edit: i forgot peeing standing up! :)

I have a severe urine infection…..the pain is driving me mad!?

Cranberry juice is always the first answer and even though it is a good one…..Also drink water! Sometimes the acid from the cranberry juice can also burn coming out. If you don’t hate water…try drinking a ton of it. Also…you can still have the cranberry juice but cut it half and half with the water. Another concern […]

If you don’t hate water…try drinking a ton of it. Also…you can still have the cranberry juice but cut it half and half with the water.

Another concern is…with any antibiotic you need to remember that can cause a yeast infection. Stock yourself up on some yogurt and you should be ok in that area because believe me….the urine infection is MORE than enough…you don’t want to add a yeast infection to that.

Try as much as you can to just rest. Sometimes the more you are moving around the more you will feel like you have to pee.

I hope this is helpful in some way and that you find relief soon!

You are still okay. I have taken some hits in the last couple of weeks too and I’m 33. The majority of my portfolio is also in higher risk investments. Personally, I would say that your investment choices are fine, but in all honesty, only you can decide how much risk you can stomach.

I would say that as long as your still in it for the long-term, you shouldn’t worry about the downturn too much. It probably will continue to get worse over the next 9 months. You can put your money into a safer investment, but I wouldn’t recommend it . That type of maneuvering is called market timing, and there are dozens of hypothetical simulation to show you that market timing doesn’t really pay off, because most people never time it correctly.

My personal recommendation…just stick it out and try not to look at it too much over the next year. The same thing happened to my investments in 99/2000, and it was frustrating to watch, but my portfolio is better for it today.

(FOR MILITARY MEMBERS)- What are some tricks, techniques and tips you have for your gear? (see example below)?

When people get their hands on an extra small pouch for their gear (usually FAD, Grenade, Steyr or M16), they typically put it on the shoulder area or harness of their load bearing equipment. When people get their hands on an extra small pouch for their gear (usually FAD, Grenade, Steyr or M16), they typically put it on the shoulder area or harness of their load bearing equipment. Bad idea - this makes carrying a pack and general movement more difficult. Put it on the side of a bigger ammunition pouch.

If you carry a utility knife of sorts with you, tie some cord to one end, and tie the other end to the inside of a pouch. Then when you need to adjust your blank firing adaptor or open something at night, you’ll have an easier time.

Tape a large plastic bin liner in the inside of your pack, everything goes in here and give it a quick tie when you’re done - waterproofing your pack the easy way.

If you have any spare small pockets or pouches, put a roll of black tape in it - it’s essential for improvising all sorts of solutions - fixing a snapped radio aerial, adjusting and tying up extra slack in your pack and webbing straps, maybe even taping up the baggy parts in your trousers if you really needed to move quietly.

Why do some Asian characters look alike?

The Japanese language can be divided into three types of writing - hiragana, katakana and kanji.
Kanji is the type which looks similar to Chinese because it was taken from the Chinese language.
The Japanese essentially borrowed the Chinese system of writing way back under Prince Shotoku (I think). The same time when the Buddhist scholars brought tea over from China.
In the past, the entire Japanese writing system was made up of Chinese characters but later on they decided to adapt some characters into simpler forms for everyday usage, which resulted in the formation of hiragana.
Katakana on the other hand is used to ‘write’ foreign words borrowed from other languages, especially English, by the Japanese. For example, ‘toilet’ in English is written by the Japanese in Katakana as ‘toire’. The pronounciation is kept in that way. This is because some English words don’t have direct Japanese translations, especially if it is the name of a Western invention.

I’m not sure about the Koreans but their language is very close to the Japanese language in terms of the pronounciation of certain words. I did a module in Japanese studies so this is as much as I know.
The Vietnamese on the other hand, are closely related to the Chinese due to long periods of Chinese domination and influence and due to the fact that they originated from the area which now comprises of Northern Vietnam and Southern China.

Hope this helps! Try Wikipedia. Its generally informative.

How do I get over being shy? I can’t talk to anybody, I can’t ask teachers for help, I am deathly afraid of

Social Anxiety Disorder

Some of the signs and symptoms include:
1. An extreme fear of a situation in which you have to meet new people or you may be scrutinized by others.
2.The feared social situations are experienced with intense anxiety or avoided entirely.
3.The anxiety-provoking social situation causes physical symptoms like blushing, sweating, shaking, trembling, tense muscles, shaky voice, dry mouth or a pounding heart.

The basic symptom of social anxiety disorder is of being very anxious in the presence of others. If you suffer from social anxiety disorder, you may think that other people are very confident in public and you are not. Just blushing may feel horribly embarrassing to you, and you may feel like everyone’s eyes are always on you. You may feel anxious about giving a speech, talking to a boss or dating.

Some people with social anxiety disorder are afraid of public speaking or parties. Others feel terrible anxiety about using a public restroom, eating out, talking on the phone or writing in front of others.

Almost everyone experiences some social anxiety now and then; it’s normal. However, social anxiety disorder consistently limits the lifestyle of those with the illness, in some cases causing them to not participate in school, avoid making friends or miss important opportunities at work. Some people with social anxiety disorder avoid all socially related situations, severely limiting their life, work and social relationships.

Based on your relationship with her prior to you living in her house why would you think living there would be pleasant.

Your mother in law doesn’t want you living in her house. I am sure you know this. She said yes because of her son, she wants him there not you and will make your life miserable while you are there. In the future you will hear how if it wasn’t for her you would never have saved money for a deposit on your own home.

I would not use her washing machine, go to the laundry .I have no idea on how you would save the rinse water and what you could use it for sounds a little crazy to me. Sorry to
say her house her rules. I hope your able to save enough soon to move out. Try to look at the big picture and I would make sure every dime is saved in order to get out of living like your in jail asap

the only song i would think it would be is somebody told me - the killers. here are the lyrics

Breakin’ my back just to know your name
Seventeen tracks and I’ve had it with this game.
A breakin’ my back just to know your name.
But heaven ain’t close in a place like this
Anything goes but don’t blink, you might miss.
Cuz heaven ain’t close in a place like this.
I said heaven ain’t close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight.
Never thought I’d let a rumor ruin my whole life.

Somebody told me you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It’s not confidential, I’ve got potential.

Ready lets roll onto something new.
Takin’ it’s toll then I’m leaving without you.
Cuz heaven ain’t close in a place like this.
I said heaven ain’t close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight.
Never thought I’d let a rumor ruin my whole life.
[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]

Somebody told me that you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It’s not confidential, I’ve got potential.

Pace yourself for me. I said maybe, baby, please.
But I just don’t know now. When all I wanna do is try.

Somebody told me that you had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It’s not confidential, I’ve got potential a rushing and rushing around.

(repeat 2x)

It depends on the Province your moving too
each province regulates their own driving regulations .. in Ontario ..If you are a visitor to Ontario and want to drive while you are here, you must be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s licence from your own province, state or country. If you are from another country and visiting Ontario for more than three months, you need an International Driver’s Permit from your own country or you may have to apply for an Ontario driver’s licence, depending on your length of stay. You should also ensure your automobile insurance coverage is sufficient, and that you carry the original or a true copy of the vehicle registration or Certificate of Title for your vehicle.

New Residents
If you are a new resident in Ontario and have a valid driver’s licence from another province, state or country, you can use it for up to 60 days after you move to Ontario. If you want to keep driving in Ontario, you must get an Ontario driver’s licence. You must use your Ontario licence when you are issued one. New Ontario residents have 30 days before they have to register their vehicles and get Ontario licence plates and vehicle permit.
And yes this will require a written and road test as well as an eye exam .
